Welcome to the 2020/2021 school year!

Week 11
Well it looks like we are in for a little bit of snow. Please remember that we will be going outside everyday for two recesses and will have at least 3 outdoor gym periods a week. I recommend sending extra socks and mittens.

Emails have been sent out to each family for parent-teacher interviews. This year the interviews will be conducted over the phone or via Google Meet. A translator has been arranged for parents who require it.  Interviews will be about 10 minutes in length, we must be careful to follow these time limits.

Language:  This week we will be working on a fiction story called Rescue.

Last weeks "Would You Rather" writing prompts were fantastic and I will continue with this theme this week. I am hoping to get larger and more detailed work from students as the week goes on.

Math:  This week we  finish with capacity (litres).

I will be pushing finishing up subtracting with larger numbers and will be starting multiplication.

Social Studies:
This week we be learning about the different geographical regions of Canada.

Gym:
The gym is officially open! We have currently 2 indoor gym times. Students must have indoor shoes to use the gym. During our indoor gym times students must wear their mask at all times. We are limited with the equipment we will be using as I will have to sanitize each piece of equipment at the end of the gym period. Please remember that we will have 3 outdoor gym periods a week and dress your child accordingly. Extra socks and mittens as well as winter boots and snow pants are recommended to keep dry.

Health: This week we will look at the importance of Daily Physical activity.

Music The class has is currently working on a presentation for our virtual holiday concert. Unfortunately this year parents will not be able to see our presentation.

Art: This week in Art we will be looking at colour and value.

Contact:  If you have any concerns or would like to meet with me, please call me at school or send me a note and we can arra
nge to speak at a time that is good for both.

If you leave a message for me on the phone system be aware that I will probably not return if until the following day. These messages come to me as an email and I can not listen to them from my computer at school as the speakers are not functioning. Also, we no longer have telephones with an outside line in the classrooms, this means I can only call on break if the phone in the office is not being utilized. That being said if it is an emergency please speak directly to Donna or Sandra in the office.

The school number is (613)521-5922.
My email address is peggy.macleod@ocdsb.ca

Looking forward to a fantastic year!!
